Marriage License Overview
Couples planning on applying for their marriage license must:
- Appear in person
- Complete the application (online application available!)
- Have valid photo ID (driver's license, state issued ID, military ID, alien registration, etc.)
- Know your social security number
- If applicable, know the date and reason a previous marriage ended
- Pay the marriage license fee
Fees & Discounts
The fee for a marriage license is $93.50. Couples who attend an approved premarital course qualify for a $32.50 discount, which reduces the fee to $61.00. couple must provide the clerk's office with the certificate of completion when they apply for their license if they wish to take advantage of the discount.
Marriage License Use & Restrictions
Marriage licenses are issued immediately, however, Florida residents must wait 3-days after the license is issued before they can be married. Non-Florida residents do not have a waiting period. Floria residents wishing to skip the waiting period may do so by attending an approved premartial course and bringing the certificate of completion with them. After the license has been issued, it will expire after 60 days. If the license is not used within that time, it will expire and the couple will need to reapply to get a new one. The license must be returned to the clerk's office within 10 days following the ceremony.
