Marriage License Use & Restrictions
There is a 3-day waiting period for Florida residents after a marriage license is issued. Florida residents can skip the waiting period by attending a 4-hour premarital course. There is not a waiting period if both individuals are non-Florida residents. Marriage licenses expire 60 days from the issue date. If the marriage has not been performed by that time, the couple will need to reapply for a new marriage license. Following the ceremony, the license must be returned to the clerk's office within 10 days.
