Marriage License Overview

Couples planning on applying for their marriage license must:

• Appear in person

• Florida marriage license without premarital course: $93.50
  • 3-day waiting period applies if applicants have not taken a premarital course
• Florida marriage license with premarital course: $61.00

Marriage License Use & Restrictions

There is a mandatory 3-day waiting period before a marriage license can be used unless both individuals are non-Florida residents or have completed a premarital course. Marriage licenses expire 60 calendar days from the issue date. If the license is not used within that time, it will expire and the couple will need to reapply to get a new one. The license must be returned to the clerk's office after the ceremony within 30 days. The clerk's office does not perform ceremonies.
