Fees & Discounts
The cost for marriage license is $93.50. Couples who attend an approved premarital course qualify for a $32.50 discount, which reduces the fee to $61.00. To get this discount, the couple must provide the clerk's office with the certificate of completion when they apply for their license.
Marriage License Use & Restrictions
The state of Florida requires couples to wait 3 days from the date a marriage license is issued before they can be married. Couples that have completed a premarital course can skip the waiting period and be married immediately after the marriage license has been issued. There is not a waiting period if both individuals are non-Florida residents. After the couple has their marriage license, they have 60 days to solemnize their marriage. A Florida marriage license can be used to be married in any Florida county. Of the license is not used within that time, it will expire and the couple will need to reapply (and pay the fee again) to get a new one. After the marriage ceremony, the license must be returned to the clerk's office within 10 days.
