Marriage License Use & Restrictions
After sumitting the application, marriage licenses are issued immediately. However, there is a 3-day waiting period before the marriage license becomes valid for a couple to be married. Couples that have attended a premarital course will be able to skip the 3-day waiting period and get married on the same day the license is issued. Both individuals must complete a premarital course to skip the waiting period. Couples can take the course together or individually, depending on their preference. Non-Florida residents do have a waiting period. A marriage license is valid for 60 days from the issue date. It must be returned to the clerk's office within 10 days after the marriage is performed.
