- Know their social security numbers
- Read the Family Law Handbook (included in our premarital course for your convenience)

Fees & Discounts
The fee for a Florida marriage license is $93.50. However, couples who attend an approved premarital course receive a discount and will only pay $61. In addition to a reduced fee, couples who complete a premarital course will skip the marriage license waiting period. Couples who do not complete a premarital course must wait 3 days from the time a marriage license is issued before they can be married. To receive the benefits that come with taking a course, the couple must provide the certificate of completion to the county clerk at the time of their application.
Marriage License Use & Restrictions
When the couple receives their marriage licenses, it is valid for 60 days from the issue date. The marriage license must be returned to the clerk's office within 10 days of the ceremony. Couples who choose to have a civil marriage ceremony performed may do so at the Marriage Division if they choose for an additional fee, as long as the license is valid.
Getting Married at the Clerk's Office
The Martin county clerk offers ceremony services for couples who wish to get married at the clerk's office for an additional fee of $30. The ceremonies are held at the Courthouse Gazebo or in Memorial Park if weather permits. Ceremonies are performed by appointment, Monday through Friday, and may be offered in English or Spanish. Couples who do not schedule an appointment in advance may be accomodated depending on availability. The clerk's office recommends contacting the City of Stuart to make sure the Courthouse Gazebo or Memorial Park will be available for a ceremony if the couple plans to invite guests.
