If you register to take our course and intend to get your marriage license from this county, we will ask you for your mailing address at the end of the course so we can mail your certificate to you. Marriage License Overview
If you plan to receive your marriage license, you must:
- Both appear together at the clerk's office
- Provide a complete application
- Provide valid photo ID for each of you (state issued ID, driver's license, passport, etc.)
- Know your social security numbers (or alien registration number)
- Pay the marriage license fee
Fees & Discounts
A marriage license $93.50. However, couples who attend an approved premarital course receive a fee reduction, and will only pay $61.00. To receive this price, couples must spend a minimum of four hours taking a premarital course together and bring the certificate of completion with them when they apply for their license.
Marriage License Use & Restrictions
After applying for a Florida marriage license, there is a mandatory 3-day waiting period. Couples cannot be legally married until the effective date on the license. However, a couple can skip the waiting period when they take an approved premarital course. Non-Florida residents do not have a waiting period. If a couple is composed of one non-resident and one Florida resident, the waiting period still applies. Once you receive your marriage license, it is valid for 60 days from the issue date. The license must be returned to the clerk's office within 10 days after the ceremony is performed. As of October 1, 2014, the Hardee County Clerk's office no longer performs wedding ceremonies.
