Fees & Discounts
The cost for the marriage license, including the state and county fees is $93.50. However, couples who attend an approved premarital course will only pay $61.00. In order to receive this discount, you must present the certificate of completion at the time of your application. The clerk's office accepts cash, Mastercard, Visa, Check or money order (payable to the Clerk of Circuit Court). If you pay with a Mastercard or Visa, there will be 3.5% fee added to the cost.
Marriage License Use & Restrictions
There is a 3-day waiting period before the marriage license is effective and a couple may be married. The only exception is if the couple takes a premarital course, where the wait is waived. The only other exception is if both individuals are not Florida residents. If a couple is composed of a non-Florida resident and a Florida resident, the waiting period will still exist and the only way around it is a premarital course. Marriage licenses are valid for 60 days from the issue date, and must be returned to the clerk's office within 10 days after the marriage is performed.
