There is a 3-day waiting period before the marriage license is valid for a couple to be married if they have not taken a premarital course. Non-Florida residents do not have a waiting period. Marriage licenses are valid for 60 days from the issue date, and will not be refunded if they are not used within that time. The issued license can be used by the couple to be married in any Florida county. After getting married, the marriage license must be returned to the clerk's office within 10 days so it can be recorded.
