Marriage License Overview
If you plan to receive your marriage license in Bay county, both will need to:
- Be present at the clerk's office when submitting the application
- 18 years of age or older and present valid photo ID (driver's license, state or federal ID, etc.)
- Know your social security number (you will not need to bring the cards with you)
- If applicable, know the date of a previous divorce, annulment, or death of previous spouse
- Pay the marriage license fee
Fees & Discounts
The cost for the marriage license, including the state and county fees is $93.50. However, couples who attend an approved premarital course will only pay $61.00. The fee must be paid in full. Bay county accepts cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. If the couple chooses to pay with a credit card, there will be a 3.5% service charge for the transaction. Note: Checks are not accepted.
Marriage License Use & Restrictions
Marriage licenses in Bay county are issued immediately. However, if you do not complete an approved premarital course, you will have to wait 3 days for it to become valid. There are no refunds for marriage licenses, and they are valid only for 60 days from the issue date. Whoever performs the ceremony must returned the license to the clerk's office within 10 days of the ceremony.
