The cost for the marriage license is $93.50. This fee can be paid via cash, money order, traveler's check, personal Check (name and current address must be imprinted on check and you must present a photo ID) or credit card. Couples who attend an approved premarital course will receive a discount on the fee, which will make the total cost only $61.00. To receive this discount, the couple must bring the premarital course certificate of completion with them when they apply for their license.
Couples that have not attended a premarital course will have a mandatory 3-day waiting period before their license becomes valid. Couples that have taken the premarital course will not have to wait, and may be married on the same day they receive their license. Non-Florida residents do not have a waiting period. Once you receive your marriage license, it is valid for 60 days from the issue date. The license must be returned to the clerk's office within 10 days after the ceremony is performed.
During normal operating hours, the Hillsborough county clerks office will be available to perform ceremonies for couples who wish to be married at the clerk's office. No appointment is neccessary. The fee for this service is $30.
